Disgraced Democrat Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has found herself once again in hot water as a major scandal is exploding on Capitol Hill, and she’s not going to be able to talk her way out of this one.
Last year, Debbie “Blabbermouth-Schultz,” as Rush Limbaugh calls her, was forced to resign as chair from the Democrat National Committee after she was exposed for rigging the primary in Hillary Clinton’s favor. However, that was just the beginning of her troubles.
Since then, she’s been caught in the middle of a major scandal involving Muslim IT professionals stealing classified information from members of Congress, and now she’s in even more hot water after threatening Capitol Police for merely investigating the matter. The Daily Caller reports that during a House Committee on Appropriations’ Legislative Branch, of which she’s one of eight members, she attempted to use her power to influence a criminal investigation.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz threatened the chief of the U.S. Capitol Police with “consequences” for holding equipment that she says belongs to her in order to build a criminal case against a Pakistani staffer suspected of massive cybersecurity breaches involving funneling sensitive congressional data offsite.
The Florida lawmaker used her position on the committee that sets the police force’s budget to press its chief to relinquish the piece of evidence Thursday, in what could be considered using her authority to attempt to interfere with a criminal investigation.
The Capitol Police and outside agencies are pursuing Imran Awan, who has run technology for the Florida lawmaker since 2005 and was banned from the House network in February on suspicion of data breaches and theft.
“My understanding is the the Capitol Police is not able to confiscate Members’ equipment when the Member is not under investigation,” Wasserman Schultz said in the annual police budget hearing of the House Committee On Appropriations’ Legislative Branch Subcommittee.
“We can’t return the equipment,” Police Chief Matthew R. Verderosa told the Florida Democrat.
“I think you’re violating the rules when you conduct your business that way and you should expect that there will be consequences,” Wasserman Schultz said.
The exchange between Wasserman-Schultz and the police chief was considered to be “highly unusual” as she spent over three minutes grilling him over whether or not she would get her laptop back from the department. A federal employee with knowledge of the situation told the Caller that police found the laptop hidden in an unused crevice of the Rayburn House Office Building.
Wasserman-Schultz’s office is in Longworth House Office Building, a separate structure.
As the Caller noted, the investigation is into how Congressional data was leaving the network and also how Awan was able to get three family members plus a friend positions they rarely had to show up for yet still managed to bill the taxpayers over $4 million. When asked for comment on the matter and why she seemed so desperate to get the laptop back, the Florida congresswoman retreated back to her office and refused to answer any questions.
Shortly after, one of her staffer emerged to tell reporters that “We just don’t have any comment.”
While most would believe Wasserman-Schultz to have been a victim of Awan’s, for some reason she continues to try to protect him and even circumvented a ban placed on him by police by re-titling him as one of her “advisers.”
That’s not to mention, even Democrat staffers are perplexed at the length she seems willing to go to protect a mere tech guy.
“I can’t imagine why she’d be that good of friends with a technology provider,” he said.
“Usually if someone does bad stuff, an office is going to distance themselves” as opposed to suffering political fallout for someone who seems easily replaceable.

What is it the left keeps saying about President Trump and the Russians? Where there’s smoke, there’s fire?
Well, smoke is billowing down the halls of Congress that’s emerging from Wasserman-Schultz’s office. The only question now is whether or not Capitol Police are actually going to do anything about it or if they’re going to look the other way, like what seems to happen to any Democrat who comes under fire.
