It’s often said that a nation without laws isn’t a nation at all, so one has to wonder what America has devolved to under the Obama administration. Why, you ask? Because it seems as if every government agency is committing some form of fraud or is corrupt beyond belief.
One only needs to look as far as the IRS for evidence of this. First it was the scandal led by Lois Lerner, who used the agency to target conservatives prior to the 2012 elections – and was never punished for it – and now under Josh Koskinen the IRS is aiding and abetting illegal aliens in the crime of identity theft.
During a Senate Finance Committee hearing, Koskinen testified that his agency is struggling to ensure that illegal aliens are able to illegally use Social Security numbers for legitimate purposes – a crime that any legal citizen would be punished to the fullest extent of the law for – without allowing the numbers to be used for “bad” purposes.
Only in Obama’s America.
Here’s video of Koskinen’s testimony:
“What we learned is that … the IRS continues to process tax returns with false W-2 information and issue refunds as if they were routine tax returns, and say that’s not really our job,” Republican Sen. Dan Coats said to Koskinen, according to the Washington Examiner. “We also learned the IRS ignores notifications from the Social Security Administration that a name does not match a Social Security number, and you use your own system to determine whether a number is valid.”
“What happens in these situations is someone is using a Social Security number to get a job, but they’re filing their tax return with their [taxpayer identification number],” explained Koskinen. What that means, he said, is that “they are undocumented aliens … . They’re paying taxes. It’s in everybody’s interest to have them pay the taxes they owe.”
Koskinen was speaking in the broader context of cybersecurity. In February, 464,000 illegally obtained Social Security numbers were targeted by hackers in a cyber breach of the agency. Then in an unrelated breach, information on another 330,000 taxpayers was stolen.
Koskinen tried to say that the agency is trying to differentiate between “bad” misuse of personal data from other users.
“There are questions about whether there’s a way we could simply advise people… . A lot of the time those Social Security numbers are borrowed from friends and acquaintances and they know they’ve been used, other times they don’t.”
He also said that the IRS is working to determine ow it can most effectively accomplish its goal “without necessarily having people decide not to file their taxes… . Obviously the priority is to have the IRS collecting those taxes.”
“In some cases, there may be a need for statutory authority [from Congress], because we are very sensitive to protecting taxpayer information on both sides,” he added.
Here’s an idea; why don’t you start treating those in the country illegally the same way you would those of us who work our asses off to support this country – arrest them for identity theft. If this were any hard-working American trying to do this, they’d be in jail for a decade. In fact, identity theft is constantly prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law – as it should be.
Yet the IRS is aiding and abetting illegal aliens in that very crime? What country do we live in again?
Oh, and here’s what else is horrible about this – with their fake Social Security cards and a piece of mail from their home, they can obtain a driver’s license. With that driver’s license, they can obtain a voter registration card then vote in our national elections – and it all starts with the IRS.
