California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown has invoked the Constitution numerous times when criticizing President Trump, but he seems to have forgotten a major part of it that prohibits states from entering treaties with other nations.

Following the President pulling out of the Paris Climate Accord like a football player trying to avoid child support, the left had an absolute meltdown and assured us that the world would spontaneously combust within a month as greenhouse gasses rapidly overheated the planet. While that’s an exaggeration to make a point, what isn’t far-fetched is the fact that state governors had promised to defy the President and agree to the accord anyway.

However, agreeing with its terms and signing your own treaty with a foreign government are two different things. Good old Moonbeam doesn’t seem to get that, as he just signed his own climate treaty with the Chicoms, proving that he and his state have more in common with our communist adversaries than they do our own free country.

From Breitbart News:

California Governor Jerry Brown signed a new climate change agreement between the State of California and the People’s Republic of China on Tuesday.

The gesture continued Brown’s efforts to expand ties with China, as well as his diplomatic campaign to push for more action on climate change. It came in the immediate aftermath of President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accords.

A statement by Gov. Brown’s office described the new agreement as follows:

Specifically, the agreement expands cooperation on the advancement of low-carbon, renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies such as zero-emission vehicles, energy storage, grid modernization and low-carbon urban development. Under the agreement, California and China will also deepen their partnership and coordination on greenhouse gas emission and air pollution reduction programs, including emissions trading systems and carbon capture.

The Associated Press reports, however, that the agreement does not bind either China or California to specific greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.

For those unaware, Article I, Section X of the U.S. Constitution reads:

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

Clearly, what Moonbeam did was unconstitutional. As such, the President needs to send the federal marshals to California to arrest Gov. Brown for subversion and sedition, as he’s clearly attempting to usurp the power of the federal government by entering into a treaty that Congress hasn’t approved.
