A gunman opened fire at the San Antonio Police Department’s headquarters late on Saturday evening in what appears to be a deliberate attack on police.
The news came just hours after the Dallas Police Department went into lockdown after threats were made, and appears to be a part of the alarming trend of copycat crimes we’re seeing ever since a lone gunman massacred five police officers in Texas. Apparently, those sympathetic to the Black Lives Matter terror group now feel it’s okay to randomly target police who haven’t done anything wrong.
More from BNO:
A gunman opened fire outside the headquarters of the San Antonio Police Department in Texas, striking the building but causing no injuries, officials say. The suspect, who is believed to have “specifically targeted” police, remains at large. (more)
The incident happened at about 9:50 p.m. CT on Saturday when multiple gunshots were fired outside the headquarters of the San Antonio Police Department, which is located at 315 South Santa Rosa Avenue off Interstate 35.
“SAPD officers located multiple shell casings at Grahm Alley and S Santa Rosa. A Hispanic male wearing an orange shirt and navy blue pants was seen running from the scene,” police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Salame said. “Bullet impact marks were discovered on the east side of headquarters.”
“We believe that headquarters was specifically targeted,” Sgt. Salame said, adding that the exact motive is still under investigation. “We have received numerous posts on social media conveying vague threats to officers but have no specific threats or information to pass along at this time.”
USAToday also reported on the madness occurring in Texas, and apparently police found a vehicle in connection with the shooting.
One person was detained near the building, but [SAPD Chief William] McManus said that person was not a suspect. Police are still looking for a man seen running southbound away from the headquarters building. He was wearing an orange shirt and blue pants.
McManus said a car was found near the crime scene, and it was believed that it could be connected to the shooting. The SAPD Bomb Squad was checking the vehicle just after midnight to make sure it was clear. Then it was expected to be towed and impounded.
This is really starting to get insane.
