Democrats across the country seem to have forgotten why it is President Donald Trump won the election.

He campaigned on tougher border security, cracking down on illegal immigration, and taking a stronger stance overall on national security, all of which would be accomplished by ending federal funding to so-called “sanctuary cities.” On November 8, the people voted in an historic election to deliver the billionaire businessman an electoral landslide the likes of which haven’t been seen in decades, yet Democrats are still operating as if Hillary Clinton defeated Trump.

Enter the mayor of Prospect Park, New Jersey, a Syrian-born Muslim by the name of Mohamed Khairullah, who governs the town of roughly 5,900 people. In an enraging and defiant move against the duly elected President of the United States, Khairullah used the authority of his pen to sign an executive order declaring “his” city a sanctuary for illegal aliens, NJ.com reported.

“No department, committee, agency, commission, officer or employee of the Borough of Prospect Park shall use any Borough funds or resources to assist in the enforcement of Federal Immigration Law,” the order reads, in part.

Khiarullah, an Aleppo native who came to America in 1991 and started his career in politics a decade later, conflated illegal and legal immigrants when justifying his egregious declaration to defy federal laws.

“It is important to me as a person who came to the U.S as an immigrant, that we uphold our laws and values,” Khairullah said. “The U.S is the land of opportunity and dreams for many people all over the world.”

Khairullah is one of several New Jersey mayors who have said their cities would refuse to assist federal agencies in enforcing federal immigrations laws. Raz Baraka of Newark and Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop have also declared their cities will remain sanctuaries for illegal invaders.
