A breaking story is developing in Washington as shots were fired this morning after a driver tried mowing down police.
According to multiple reports, Capitol Hill police were nearly run down by the suspect, but no injuries were reported. According to a live news feed, preliminary reports indicate that the incident may have been a traffic stop gone wrong, but so far nobody has been able to confirm as much.
However, the same report stated that police tried stopping the vehicle some distance away from the Capitol and the suspect fled the scene. A chase ensued, and police followed the vehicle to the Capitol, where several shots were fired in an attempt to get the suspect to stop.
Police said it’s unclear who actually fired the shots, but nobody was struck by the rounds after they were fired.
