President Trump had remained silent about firing FBI Director Comey in the hours after it was first announced, but this morning he finally commented on it and he took it to the Democrats…hard.

In a series of early morning tweets the President is known for, Trump lashed out against the Democrats for their indignant reaction to his letting Comey go after denigrating the former director for months. At the same time, the President sought to ease the minds of Americans by explaining he’ll be replacing Comey with someone “who will do a far better job” and who will bring back “the spirit and the prestige of the FBI.”

President Trump also explained that Comey had lost the confidence of everyone in Washington that he was able to execute his duties impartially. According to Trump, people will be “thanking” him once the dust settles over the matter.

Last night, President Trump took the opportunity to stick it to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Apparently growing ever weary of the hypocrisy from the Democrats, the President called out “Cryin’ Chuck,” whose positions have flip-flopped more than a freshly-caught fish lying on a dock.

Yesterday evening, the political world was rocked when the Trump administration unexpectedly announced that Comey was being relieved of his duties, effective immediately. Comey had come under intense scrutiny ever since last July when he held a press conference outlining the details of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server then stated that although he believed she was guilty as hell, he wouldn’t be recommending any charges against her.

The move enraged both Democrats and Republicans alike, and apparently was enough for the new Assistant Attorney General, who was Comey’s actual boss, to recommend the President terminate him because he no longer had confidence in Comey’s ability to discharge his duties as required.

“It is essential that we find new leadership for the F.B.I. that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission,” President Trump’s letter to Comey read.
