In 2008, the Barack Obama craze swept the nation, and seven years later, we wish it never had. During the election back then he appeared to be all but guaranteed to win, but check out what the left said would happen if he didn’t.
Last week, GOP front-runner Donald Trump came under heavy fire for suggesting that there could possibly be rioting if the Republican Party tried to steal the nomination from him in a shady manner. People accused him of inciting violence, even though he was merely stating an observation, and ever since he’s been forced to defend what he said.
Apparently, people have some short memories. In 2008, the same people saying that Trump is inciting violence by suggesting people might riot were saying that if Barack Obama wasn’t elected that people would probably riot.
You just can’t make this stuff up.
An October 2008 piece from the American Thinker said this:
A New Media Motif: Vote Obama & Avoid Race Riots
The Hill.com introduced what could become a key media motif in the week before the election: If you vote against Obama, you could cause a riot.
At least in modern American history, this will be the first of its brand of political extortion perpetrated by the old liberal media, not just against voters, but against the African-American communities in cities across the country.
The article on TheHill.com, written by Alexander Bolton, states that,
Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations. Others based the need for enhanced patrols on past riots in urban areas (following professional sports events) and also on Internet rumors.
Then there’s this little tidbit from the Free Republic, which quoted far-left Democratic Strategist James Carville during a CNN appearance:
James Carville Hints at Riots If Obama Loses Election (2008)
In last night’s post-debate analysis on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, James Carville proclaimed that Barack Obama will be the slam dunk winner of the election in November. However, he followed up by hinting at riots if Obama were to lose.
So do those comments not count? Or is it that because liberals said them, it’s okay?
