It’s no secret that California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown loves illegal aliens, but apparently he loves them a little too much.
It’s the solemn duty of elected officials to prioritize the well-being and safety of their constituents. Failure to do so is a dereliction of duty that should result in their removal from office, yet for Gov. Brown it seems to be the norm.
The California Democrat has been spending some $25 billion a year supporting illegal invaders in his state while neglecting important matters that directly affect its residents. One such matter is the Oroville Dam, which nearly had a catastrophic failure over the weekend as it was ravaged by flood waters, but the entire scenario could have been prevented had the governor been a little wiser with his spending.
The Washington Times is reporting that Brown has been inundated with criticism for failing to address the crumbling dam for years as he continued to waste billions on people who aren’t even supposed to be here. In fact, the first warnings that the dam needed reinforcement came 12 years ago after environmental groups raised concerns that heavy floods could cause its collapse, according to Mercury News.
Worse yet, “Governor Moonbeam,” as his critics call him, put in a request for $100 billion of President Trump’s proposed $1 trillion infrastructure package, and there wasn’t even an honorable mention for the dam.
More from the Times:
The flood danger from the Oroville Dam receded Monday, but California was hit by a wave of criticism for failing to heed warnings about risks to the spillway at a time when the state spent generously on illegal immigrants and high-speed rail.
California Gov. Jerry Brown, a Democrat, came under fire amid reports that federal and state officials for years rebuffed or ignored calls to fortify the massive 50-year-old dam, which provides water to more than 20 million farmers and residential consumers.
“What’s Governor Brown doing?” former state Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a Republican, asked in a Monday post on Facebook. “The same thing he’s been doing for decades — obstructing progress.”
A radio talk show host, Mr. Donnelly said California “has been so busy defying President Donald Trump in order to protect illegal aliens from deportation that it forgot to do the things government is supposed to do, like maintain infrastructure. Governor Brown is now going hat-in-hand to beg the Trump administration for emergency funds.”
As the threat of the dam’s collapse increased, some 185,000 people were forced to evacuate their homes on Sunday night. Yet it all could have been prevented had Jerry Brown and his Democrat Party actually appropriated the funds to keep the people living below it – actual U.S. citizens – and their property safe.
Judging by Gov. Brown’s fiscal priorities, he’s more concerned about the well-being of illegal aliens than he is the American people. This time around it nearly cost 185,000 people everything they owned, and while the crisis was avoided, one can’t help but wonder what it’s going to cost us in the future.
