California’s majority Democrat government attempted to shame other states for standing up for religious freedom, and it backfired in epic fashion after the Tennessee State Legislature issued a scathing resolution in response to their attempt at moral superiority.
Under our Constitution, each state has the right to conduct its affairs in whatever manner it sees fit, given their actions stay within the confines of the Constitution itself, which means that it’s highly inappropriate for California to be wagging its finger at other states over their LGBT laws to shame them for being too conservative. However, that didn’t stop California’s Democrats from escalating the culture war when they enacted a travel ban to Tennessee, Texas, and other states for protecting religious rights.
But Tennessee got the last laugh with its official response.

Some of the highlights of the scathing rebuke are below:
Whereas, California’s attempt to influence public policy in our state is akin to Tennessee expressing its disapproval of California’s exorbitant taxes, spiraling budget deficits, runaway social welfare programs, and rampant illegal immigration; and
Whereas, Tennessee is pleasantly surprised that California will not be sending its economic development teams to Tennessee to recruit our businesses, but we can still send our teams to recruit their businesses; and
Whereas, Tennessee is puzzled why California thinks it is a good idea to prohibit its state colleges and universities from participating in athletic competition in Tennessee (March Madness comes to Memphis this year via the South Regional), Kansas, Mississippi, and North Carolina.
You get the idea. Tennessee’s legislature trolled California’s Democrat leaders pretty hard.
While California’s legislature should be ashamed of themselves for meddling in the affairs of other states, one thing that’s become apparent is Democrats are incapable of shame because they’re incapable of admitting when they’re wrong.
But at least the rest of us can have a good laugh at their expense…
