Last night at the Republican National Convention, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz failed to live up to his pledge to support GOP nominee for president Donald Trump, which led to him being booed off stage. However, the boos were the least of his worries, as immediately after the speech he received horrible news from a major GOP donor.
According to a report from the Independent Journal Review, Cruz left the stage and headed for the suite of big-money donor Sheldon Adelson, but he wasn’t exactly met with open arms. In fact, those inside the suite were so upset with what Cruz had pulled on the stage that he wasn’t even allowed inside.
That’s pretty bad.
A former U.S. Senator inside the suite at the time told the Journal that Cruz wasn’t allowed in “because he’s a piece of sh*t.”
It wasn’t just the former senator who was upset either. The suite was apparently full of people who were ticked that Cruz reneged on his pledge to support and endorse the eventual nominee, even if it was Trump.
For those unaware, Cruz mentioned Trump’s name once during his entire speech and it was at the beginning. The former contestant for the nomination congratulated Trump on his victory, then went into a long speech that touched on hot issues like the anti-law enforcement attitude and radical Islam, before concluding by telling the crowd to “vote your conscious” in November.
“And to those listening, please, don’t stay home in November,” Cruz said. “Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.”
It was evident that this was a sabotage mission from Cruz, and now he’s paying a high price for it. Politicians and pundits alike have been commenting that he may have torpedoed his career by going back on his word, since now it’s going to be harder for people to trust him.
Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen, but for now he’s definitely made himself look like a total jackass.
