Last night, the country was rocked upon hearing the news that Arizona Sen. John McCain was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, and you have to see the reactions from Democrats to believe them.
Since President Trump took office, politics have become a literal blood sport as the left’s rhetoric has gone so far over the top that it’s hard to take them seriously most of the time, especially with Congressional Democrats. However, sometimes things occur that are above partisan politics, and, even if only for a moment, both sides wave the white flags to rally around a person or a cause.
This is one of those times.
When Washington heard the news about McCain, both sides put down their daggers to send out messages of love and support to Sen. McCain and his family. While we’re unsure of how long the informal truce will last, at least we know that in serious times the mud slinging can stop and we can just think of one another as what we all are – Americans.
Even the most partisan Democrats were able to put their politics aside and show the nation that at the end of the day we’re all human beings deserving of respect.
Sen. Tim Kaine called McCain a “hero.”
Thinking about a hero, my Chairman, my friend John McCain. Stay strong!

Hillary Clinton said that the Senator is as “tough as they come.”
John McCain is as tough as they come. Thinking of John, Cindy, their wonderful children, & their whole family tonight.

Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts agreed, stating there’s nobody “tougher” than McCain.
No one is tougher than Senator John McCain. Period.

Even Nancy Pelosi showed her soft side and tweeted that McCain is a “hero” and a “friend.”
.@SenJohnMcCain is a hero, a patriot and a fighter. I am privileged to call him a friend. Paul & I pray for his recovery and his family.

But the most surprising reaction came from Barack Obama, who butted heads with McCain on more than one occasion during his tenure.
John McCain is an American hero & one of the bravest fighters I've ever known. Cancer doesn't know what it's up against. Give it hell, John.
— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) July 20, 2017
Naturally, Republicans didn’t come up short with their support of the former POW, with President Trump leading the way stating, “Senator John McCain has always been a fighter. Melania and I send our thoughts and prayers to Senator McCain, Cindy, and their entire family. Get well soon.”
.@SenJohnMcCain is an American hero. I pray for him and his family. I look forward to seeing him soon.

John McCain is an American hero and a relentless fighter. I wish him Godspeed in this fight and look fwd to welcoming him back to work soon.

Praying for my friend @SenJohnMcCain, one of the toughest people I know.

And if you haven’t read it yet, McCain’s daughter, Meghan, released a deeply emotional and touching statement upon hearing the devastating news.

Again, even if it’s only a short cease-fire, at least both sides are willing to let down their guard when it matters and set an example for the rest of the country. While it’s unlikely, it would be nice if this ordeal signaled the beginning of a softer tone and more cooperation in Washington, so at least some good can come out of such devastating news.
Thoughts and prayers to the McCain family in this difficult time.
We’ll be rooting for you, Sir.
