Congressman John Lewis started quite a controversy over the weekend when he called President-elect Donald Trump an “illegitimate president” due to allegations he worked with the Russians to defeat Hillary Clinton, and one former Black Panther isn’t too happy about it.
Black supremacist turned author Mason Weaver appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show on Monday night, and he had some choice words for the former civil rights icon. Weaver believes Lewis turned into a puppet for the Democrats and said he presided over “the destruction of black America” after he famously marched along Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, Alabama.
Since his march, Lewis has used his participation in the Civil Rights movement of the 60s to ward off any criticisms of his less-than-stellar record in Congress. However, Weaver is immune to such tactics from Lewis, and boy did he let him have it on Carlson’s show when he pondered, “what have you done for us lately?”
Check it out:
“He has done nothing,” Weaver said. “John Lewis, bless his heart — it took courage to do what he did in his early life … [but] he has turned himself to his enemy.”
Weaver then accused Lewis of taking advantage of his civil rights fame to amass power and wealth while ignoring the needs of the black community, which has been overrun with poverty and crime in most every Democrat-controlled district.
“He’s gotten rich as black America has gotten more poor,” Weaver said.
Weaver also said that Lewis joined the ranks of the oppressors after he was hit in the head with a brick by Democrat segregationists.
“[Lewis is a] civil rights turncoat … who collaborated with the Democratic Party to oppress black America,” Weaver said. “After they beat his behind on that bridge… he got up and joined them. He joined the oppressors and became a stooge for them.”
Weaver noted that Democrats have long been the party of racism and slavery, and that Republicans had a record of standing up for civil rights before the 60s, when Lewis was in the fight. He suggested that if Lewis were really serious about the plight of black people, he’d have joined the Republicans to carry on the legacy of civil rights pioneers Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King Jr.
The Democratic Party has always been the party of abuse, always been the party of the Klan, the party that waged war to keep slaves — the party that’s always been the destruction of black people.
Mr. Lewis, you have presided over the destruction of black America, and you owe us an apology.
“If you’re a real man, John Lewis,” Weaver concluded. “You stand up tomorrow and you apologize.”
Ouch. The truth hurts, but somebody needed to say it.
