The manner in which Fox News host Megyn Kelly has been covering Donald Trump’s campaign seems more like she works for CNN than she does a conservative media outlet, and Newt Gingrich finally took her to task about it.
During Tuesday night’s broadcast of “The Kelly File,” the two butted heads over the allegations about Trump sexually assaulting women, and it’s safe to say that Kelly walked away licking her wounds.
Gingrich did his best to stick to policies during the segment, but Kelly kept wanting to bring up Trump’s accusers. When she used the words “sexual predator” in the same sentence speaking about Trump, Gingrich absolutely unloaded on her.
Check it out:
The majority of the interview was Kelly interrupting Gingrich at every turn, regardless of what he had to say about Trump’s campaign. She also pointed to polls showing a Clinton win in states that have moved to the left, but Gingrich countered that he believes Americans won’t elect her due to her corruption.
Kelly then brought up the alleged acts of Trump and said they’re the reason he’s losing in the polls.
“I get it, I know where you’re coming from,” Gingrich said as he became visibly annoyed.
“If Donald Trump is a sexual predator, that is–”
“He’s not a sexual predator!” Gingrich shot back.
“I’m sick and tired of people like you using language that’s inflammatory that’s not true!… When you use the words, you took a position. And I think it’s very unfair of you to do that, Megyn!”
Kelly then tried flipping things around and saying that Gingrich being defensive “may speak volumes,” but he wasn’t having any of it.
“You wanna go back through the tapes of your show recently?” Gingrich shot back. “You are fascinated with sex and you don’t care about public policy! That’s what I get out of watching you tonight!”
An epic smack down, indeed, and it’s exactly what former fans of Megyn Kelly have wanted to see for some time. Kudos to Gingrich for having the cajones to call her out like that, since it’s evident she certainly needed it.
