Long-time Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin has a shady past, but we had no idea it was this bad.
A bombshell report from the Washington Free Beacon revealed that her father, who died in 1993, wasn’t exactly a so-called “moderate” Muslim, as Huma would have us believe, but instead was a hardline Islamist with views as radical as they come. A video surfaced of an interview with Huma’s father, Sayed Abedin, blaming the West for turning Muslims “hostile” and advocating Sharia law be implemented in Muslim nations across the globe.
The 1971 interview shows Abedin, who was a Muslim scholar, speaking of why the majority of Muslims view Israel and the West in negative terms, and provides much insight into his family’s ideology. For those unaware, the Abedin family allegedly has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, and Huma herself worked as an assistant editor for 12 years for her family’s publication, the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs, which was a part of a Saudi Arabian think tank established by a financier of al-Qaeda.
It’s also worth noting that Abedin’s father worked in the Saudi Arabian government until his death. With all of this in mind, how did Huma ever get top security clearances in our government?
More from the Free Beacon:
Abedin, who was then a professor in the university’s college of general studies, said that Western intervention in the Arab world has sparked a backlash among many faithful Muslims.
“The response to the West has been of two kinds,” Abedin said. “By and large the response has taken more of a hostile form.”
“The first impulse of the average Muslim in the Islamic world is that this kind of borrowing [culturally] would be somehow an alien factor into our social fabric and thereby destroying the integrity of our ethos … the integrity of our culture,” he added.
In a separate discussion on the state’s role in a person’s life, Abedin said it is necessary to police the application of Sharia law.
“The state has to take over” as Muslim countries evolve, he argued. “The state is stepping in in many countries … where the state is now overseeing that human relationships are carried on on the basis of Islam. The state also under Islam has a right to interfere in some of these rights given to the individual by the Sharia.”
Abedin also discussed the clash between modernity and the Islamic world.
“When you talk of an Islamic state … does it have to have a caliph?” he asked. “What does it mean? What is the Islamic concept of good in the present day world?”
Cultural changes, Abedin also said, have to be validated by the tenets of Islam in every circumstance.
“The main dynamics of life in the Islamic world are still supplied by Islam,” he said. “Any institution, as I said before, any concept, any idea, in order to be accepted and become a viable thing in the Islamic world has to come through … Islam.”
Abedin’s daughter has claimed that she’s a “moderate” Muslim, but her familial ties paint a completely different story. Oddly enough, about the same time that she signed onto the Clinton team, Saudi Arabia and other Islamic nations took an extreme interest in Bill and Hillary Clinton’s “charity,” which begs the question of what Huma’s real role is with the family.
If this were anybody else, they wouldn’t have ever been allowed to even tour the White House, much less receive the security clearances necessary to work alongside the president. With that in mind, isn’t it time we demand more answers from the Hillary camp as to how and why this woman’s still a part of her team?
