While everyone was quieting down for the evening and preparing for bed last night, President Trump was hard at work enacting the promises he made on the campaign trail.

States’ Rights are the cornerstone of our republic, and President Trump just took a major step in working to restore them. This time around it has to do with Barack Obama’s massive federal overreach that completely ignored the Tenth Amendment and granted powers to the government it doesn’t have, and liberals are seriously having a meltdown.

In his final year in office, Obama signed an executive order forcing schools throughout the country to allow children to use the bathroom of whatever gender they “identify” as, science and biology be damned. The move sparked outrage as most parents don’t want their little girls going to the restroom or showering with little boys, and vice versa.

So last night, the president completely revoked the guidance requiring compliance with the totalitarian order, and it’s safe to say the left is not happy about it…at all.

Reuters has more:

President Donald Trump’s administration on Wednesday revoked landmark guidance to public schools letting transgender students use the bathrooms of their choice, reversing a signature initiative of former Democratic President Barack Obama.

Reversing the Obama guidelines stands to inflame passions in the latest conflict in America between believers in traditional values and social progressives, and is likely to prompt more of the street protests that followed Trump’s Nov. 8 election.

Obama had instructed public schools last May to let transgender students use the bathrooms matching their chosen gender identity, threatening to withhold funding for schools that did not comply. Transgender people hailed the step as victory for their civil rights.

Trump, a Republican who took office last month, rescinded those guidelines, even though they had been put on hold by a federal judge, arguing that states and public schools should have the authority to make their own decisions without federal interference.

The Justice and Education departments will continue to study the legal issues involved, according to the new, superseding guidance that will be sent to public schools.

The move prompted the hashtag #protecttranskids to trend on Twitter. Reactions are below:

Of course, there was also plenty of support for the measure:

To be clear, the Trump administration has stated the move wasn’t done as an effort to discriminate against transgender people, but rather to restore to the states their inherent right to self-governance without federal interference as mandated by the Constitution. So as usual, the left is using a purely emotional argument to debate a perfectly legal and Constitutional move by the president.
