Hillary Clinton’s campaign appeared to show its true colors on Tuesday night in New Hampshire at one of its rallies after people spotted something on the ground that really shouldn’t have been there. A photographer snapped a picture of it, and now people are justifiably outraged at the stunning lack of respect that was shown.
Apparently, Clinton and her campaign staffers need a lesson in proper flag etiquette, since they thought it appropriate to throw one on the ground prior to the event being kicked off. Why? Well, that’s where it was being stored until it was hung behind the former Secretary of State for her speech to come later.

So disrespectful. But then again, what more could we expect from Clinton? At least backlash was swift and severe.

For those unaware, the U.S. Flag Code states the following:
8. Respect for flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
In addition, the flag isn’t supposed to “touch anything beneath it,” which includes the ground, floor, water, or anything else.
While this may be innocuous to some, I think it points to a much larger problem with Clinton and her staffers. Anyone who truly has a deep love for our nation wouldn’t ever allow something like this to happen, even accidentally. And they certainly would correct it if it was incidental, not leave it there for someone to take a picture of and post online.
