This morning on the Fox Business Network, RNC Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel dropped a nuke on the developing story about Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and the Muslim IT staffer she’s been protecting for months.
McDaniel appeared on Mornings with Maria to discuss the thickening plot, which had gas poured on it last night when we learned that Imran Awan was arrested by the FBI as he attempted to flee the country. The arrest came following reports that the FBI seized numerous hard drives and computer equipment from Awan’s former residence, and it raised serious questions as to what the hard drives contained.
Not nearly enough people are talking about how Debbie Wasserman Shultz's staffer may have put national security at risk & tried to flee US. pic.twitter.com/UNFMuAEAJz

“We have to get to the bottom of this, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz has obstructed at every level, on something that affects, potentially our national security,” McDaniel argued. “So to have this gentlemen try and leave the country yesterday, and now we know there’s bank fraud, and we know he destroyed these hard drives and when you talk to — when you read the story about the Marine that found them in the apartment he was trying to rent. “
She then blasted the Democrats for ignoring the scandal, which looks like it’s going to be far bigger than anything Russia related.
“I mean, it’s a long story, but it’s something we have to get to the bottom of,” she continued. “We’re not hearing the Democrats talk about it at all.”
While it’s no surprise Democrats are circling the wagons to protect their own, it is concerning that it appears as if Wasserman-Schultz was doing everything she could to protect someone under criminal investigation.
McDaniel then questioned why it is the DNC hasn’t been cooperative with authorities.
“Where’s Debbie Wasserman Schultz? she asked. “And we also need to know why DNC never turned over their hard drive to the FBI to review it as to their hacking.”
For those unaware, Awan had been under criminal investigation as a part of a Congressional data breech that happened last summer. He was forbidden from working on Capitol Hill by the Capitol Police, but Wasserman-Schultz circumvented their orders by hiring him on as a consultant, which again raises questions as to why she was so protective over him.
Awan was arrested this week for wire fraud charges after he wired nearly $300,000 to Pakistan. However, some have questioned whether or not he was the source of the emails published by Wikileaks, as he had access to the DNC servers as well as the passwords for Wasserman-Schultz’s accounts.
It remains to be seen what’s going to come of all of this; however, this may just be the first card to fall and take out the Democrats’ house of cards.
