If President Trump thought that a special counsel would help exonerate him of the allegations against him, he’s mistaken.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to oversee the special investigation into all things Russia. While most praised the appearance of autonomy from Mueller and whoever he appointed to help him, it looks like the swamp is actually in the process of creating a lynch mob to go after the President.
According to a report from the Washington Examiner, Mueller has brought on at least three people who have donated heavily to Democrats in recent years. In fact, since 1988, they’ve donated over $53,000 to Democrats, calling into question just how impartial they’re going to be throughout this entire ordeal.
From the Examiner:
Mueller selected James Quarles, Jeannie Rhee and Andrew Weissman to make up members of his legal team, among the five lawyers identified by CNN.
Those three lawyers have collectively made more than $53,000 in political donations since 1988. More than half of those donations came from Quarles.
Quarles has donated close to $33,000 to Democratic political campaigns, including to Democratic presidential candidates Michael Dukakis, Al Gore, John Kerry, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
He also donated more than $20,000 to groups helping to elect Democrats to the House and Senate.
If that’s not bad enough, Breitbart News is reporting that Rhee was actually a lawyer for the Clinton Foundation during Hillary Clinton’s email investigation. While representing the bogus charity, part of her work included fending off Freedom of Information Act requests related to Hillary’s dealings with the organization.
A more controversial pick of Mueller’s was former prosecutor and WilmerHale partner Jeannie Rhee. In 2015, according to Politico, she performed work for the Clinton Foundation, defending it from FOIA requests related to Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
As a result of the latest developments, allies of President Trump have called for him to terminate the special counsel because they see nothing good coming from it. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told Fox News “This is going to be a witch hunt,” and Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning said in a statement that Mueller should go.
Given former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony that there is no collusion between President Trump and Russia to do with the campaign, the scope of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation should be dramatically narrowed by Attorney General Jeff Sessions to simply the leaks and the Obama administration unmaskings to led to this witch hunt in the first place. If Mueller refuses to investigate these leaks, which are one of the central reasons he was even appointed as Special Counsel, then the Special Counsel should be discontinued. It is not up to the Justice Department to choose who the President of the United States is. The American people already made that decision in 2016.
Again, it appears as if the swamp is rounding up Clinton-connected operatives to form a lynch mob to go after the President, which is likely why the Democrats pushed so hard for a special counsel, knowing they’d get the witch hunt they were looking for. To them, anyone who’s far-left is considered to be impartial and anybody to the right of that is considered to be a right-wing nutjob, so the fact they even approved of Mueller to begin with speaks volumes.
After all, they went after Gorsuch despite the fact he received near-unanimous approval when he was put on the lower Court, all because he doesn’t toe the leftist line and put politics before country. So if you really think they wouldn’t do the same with Mueller, you’d be horribly mistaken, especially given the nature of the work he’ll be doing.
Newt is right; President Trump needs to end this whole charade before this whole charade ends him.
