As many have already heard, Barack Obama will once again be missing the funeral of a conservative national icon. Last time it was to go golfing, and this time it’s to hang out with millennials and ask advice about government, or something. One person none too happy about his decision to skip Nancy Reagan’s funeral is her stepson, Michael, and he has a brutal message for our empty-suit president.
It’s been widely reported that Obama plans to attend this year’s South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, to hang out with progressives, Hollywood elites, and big name tech insiders rather than pay his respects to Nancy, which isn’t sitting too well with Americans. In response to Obama’s snub, Michael Reagan went off about how the golfer-in-chief can’t ever seem to do the “right” thing when it’s most important.
Newsmax has more on Reagan’s remarks:
Political commentator Michael Reagan slammed President Barack Obama for not planning to attend the funeral of his stepmother, Nancy Reagan, on Friday — telling Newsmax TV that “it seems that Barack Obama has never learned the right thing to do.”
“It would’ve been nice if he would’ve honored Nancy and been there, but I’m not surprised again,” Reagan, the eldest son of Mrs. Reagan and President Ronald Reagan, told host J.D. Hayworth on Newsmax TV’s “America Votes: 2016” in a telephone interview from Thailand. “Imagine if Nancy were a Democrat, liberal — or if Ronald Reagan was, he probably would be there.
“Sometimes, there’s a right thing to do,” he told Hayworth. “Whether you agree with something or not, sometime it’s just the right thing to do. He just keeps on missing the ball on that one.”
Unfortunately, such derelictions of duty aren’t rare from Obama. If you remember correctly, he also skipped the funeral of Supreme Court icon, Justice Antonin Scalia, so he could prepare for him game of golf the following day. Although at the time, he said he was reviewing potential nominees for Scalia’s replacement.
But keep in mind, this is the same man who sent representatives to the funerals of thugs, who was snapping selfies at the funeral of Nelson Mandela – across the globe – and has repeatedly shown his contempt for all things conservative. So as enraging as it is he’s disrespecting the Reagan family, sadly, it’s not unexpected.
Indeed. 2017 cannot come soon enough.
