House Speaker Paul Ryan once infamously stated that he wouldn’t defend President Trump, after a video surfaced showing then-candidate Trump making offensive comments about women.
At least he’s keeping his word.
Speaking on a Wisconsin radio show this morning, the Speaker of the House hit back at the President following Trump tweeting out that he’s like more support from Congressional Republicans regarding the relentless attacks about Russia. Apparently, Ryan is all about letting the President hang out to dry as the Democrats and establishment Republicans do their best to undermine him with their Russian hysteria.
In fact, Ryan bluntly stated “that wasn’t what we were elected to do” in Regards to helping President Trump stave off the rabid Democrats. Not only that, he completely dismissed any suggestion that Special Counsel Mueller’s conflicts of interest, such as appointing 15 Democrat donors to his team, would have an effect on the outcome of what started as a probe into Russian election meddling and has expanded to include the President’s past financial transactions, both personal and business.
From the Daily Caller:
Ryan was asked on local Wisconsin radio Monday morning about why Republicans aren’t doing more to protect President Trump from Mueller’s investigation and those being conducted by Congressional committees. The radio host Jay Weber mentioned the Democratic donors hired, and in his response Ryan said, “Bob Mueller is a Republican who was appointed by a Republican.”
The House Speaker added, “I don’t think many people are saying that Mueller is a biased partisan…he really is anything but.” While the president has called Mueller’s investigation a “witch hunt,” Ryan said a special counsel “depoliticizes this stuff,” and “gets it out of the political theater.”
As for defending Trump from the investigations, he said congressional Republicans are “not spending all of our time on this.” Ryan went on to say “that wasn’t what we were elected to do,” and that they instead will focus on health care reform and improving the economy.
This guy is something else. But then again, his wife is a proud liberal and Hillary supporter, so he’s just supporting his wife through all of this.
It’s no wonder the President has yet to have legislation to sign with these traitors in Congress.
