Former ambassador to the United Nations under Barack Obama, Samantha Power, has already been implicated in the unmasking of Trump campaign officials, but a bombshell new report reveals just how bad her activities were.
The Washington Free Beacon is reporting that Power, along with other Obama-era officials, was a frequent user of “unmasking” during her final year in office. In fact, she was quite the busy little bee, despite the fact she held a position unrelated to the intelligence world, as she “unmasked” reportedly “hundred” of Americans’ names during the heat of a presidential election.
Why would an ambassador to the U.N. need to unmask so many names?
Take a wild guess.
From the Free Beacon [emphasis added]:
Power was first identified by the Washington Free Beacon last month as a central figure in a congressional investigation into efforts by senior Obama administration officials to obtain classified intelligence information in what many allege was an effort to undermine President Donald Trump and his incoming national security team.
Power is believed to be the anonymous official responsible for “hundreds of unmasking requests during the final year of the Obama administration,” according to current and former U.S. officials who spoke to the Free Beacon about the ongoing investigation.
Efforts by the former Obama administration to obtain the names of Trump allies included in raw intelligence reports have fueled speculation that subsequent leaks to the press were orchestrated by the former administration and its allies in a bid to damage the current White House and smear Trump’s most senior confidantes.
Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, which is handling the probe, petitioned Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats last week to request his help in addressing the unmasking issue.
Nunes disclosed in his letter that the former Obama administration had “easy access” to sensitive classified information and that they may have used it to “achieve partisan political purposes, including the selective, anonymous leaking of such information.”
First Susan Rice, now Samantha Power. These people are evil, and worse yet they’re enemies of the state.
Worse yet, Power was one of the Obama officials involved with spying on President Trump during the transition period between November and January.
Again from the Free Beacon [emphasis added]:
Power appears to be central to efforts by top Obama administration officials to identify individuals named in classified intelligence community reports related to Trump and his presidential transition team, according to multiple sources.
The names of Trump allies in the raw intelligence reports were leaked to the press in what many in Congress and the current administration claim is an attempt by Obama allies and former officials to damage the White House.
The House Intelligence Committee, which is spearheading the investigation into these efforts, has issued subpoenas for Power and other top Obama administration figures, including former national security adviser Susan Rice, as part of congressional efforts to determine the source of these leaks.
Power’s role in this unmasking effort is believed to be particularly questionable given her position as a the U.N. ambassador, a post that does not typically require such sensitive unmasking activities, according to former U.S. officials and other sources familiar with the matter.
Where’s Attorney General Sessions in all of this?
Our hope is that there’s an investigation underway, and these cretins will soon be brought to justice, because this is far worse than Watergate, which seems like snooping for Christmas presents by comparison.
