Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry proudly attended President Trump’s joint address to Congress last night, and the pin he wore on his jacket is getting serious attention after people learn the meaning behind it.
Perry was one of numerous Trump appointees and cabinet members to attend the event, and he showed class through and through as he made his way through the crowd waiting outside. Perry, like so many other proud Americans, fully supports the men and women in blue who place their lives on the line for us daily, so to show his appreciation he wore a special lapel pin to the address that was given to him by an officer back in Texas.
It’s a black American flag that has a single blue strip down the center of it.
Check it out, via the Independent Journal:
Perry explained to Independent Journal Review that a police officer had given the pin to him:
“I was given this pin by a police officer. I wear it in his honor. This is out of respect for police.”
He waved his hand, indicating the Capitol Hill police officers who lined the halls:
While we’re all in there, they will be protecting us out here.”
As IJR noted, this isn’t the first time that Perry has worn a similar pin, and it likely won’t be the last.
After the past eight years of the previous administration, it’s refreshing to have people like him running our country.
