We’re only six months into President Trump’s first term and already Democrats “absolutely” have his first challenger in 2020.
While several Democrats have been trying to raise their public profile by “resisting” the President and his policies, only one met with Hillary Clinton’s most powerful donors over the weekend, and they confirmed that Sen. Kamela Harris from California is going to give running for president the good old college try. Breitbart News reported that Harris spent the weekend in the Hamptons hobnobbing with rich liberal donors, who included executives from the huge banks she claims to oppose, to start setting up her bid for the White House in 2020.
The Hill reported:
The Bridgehampton event, where Harris mingled with top donors and supporters of Hillary Clinton, was the ultimate signal that Harris is “thinking much bigger” than the Senate, one top bundler said.
“She’s running for president. Take it to the bank,” another fundraiser said. “She’s absolutely going to run.”Donors say Harris is giving them a glimmer of hope when they need it the most.
They see the former prosecutor-turned-California attorney general as embodying the qualities a Democratic presidential candidate would need to win the White House in 2020.
They also see the 52-year-old African-American woman as a fresh face.
She may be a “fresh face” but she has all of the same tired and tried ideas that lost Democrats over 1,100 elected seats since 2008. However, The Hill’s sympathetic reporting made it sound as if the two recent viral videos of Harris being a rude b—h to members of the Trump administration are going to help boost her chances in the Democrat primaries, and they may but they won’t help her in the general.
As Breitbart noted, while the 2020 field for Democrats may be crowded, they don’t exactly have an abundance of good candidates to choose from, with Mass. Sen. Elizabeth Warren being a close second to Harris, and she embraces the very far-left ideology that America rejected with President Trump. That’s not to mention, the Democrats have performed poorly across all levels of government, so it’s not like they have a variety of candidates they can bring up from the states, and those they do have lack experience, just like Harris and Warren.
