As presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump starts his pivot to the general election he’s calling on conservatives across the country to fill positions in his cabinet, and a Republican insider just revealed where the billionaire would like to see former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani serve.
According to a report from the New York Daily News, an un-named GOP insider said that Trump and “America’s Mayor” have struck a secret deal for Giuliani to assist Trump in keeping America safe by heading the Department of Homeland Security. Yeah you read that right. The man who handled the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks and kept New York City safe in the following weeks and months is likely going to be Trump’s pick for DHS secretary.
How awesome is that?
“A secret deal has been struck by Donald Trump, and Rudy Giuliani would be head of Homeland Security,” according to a GOP insider.
Of course, a lot can happen between now and when Trump actually finds himself in a position where he’s picking members of his cabinet. But the insider said that if the election were today, Giuliani would be offered the pick tomorrow.
“It’s my understanding that the two have talked directly (and) I know there have been serious talks on both sides,” we’re told. “I’m told it’s a done deal, but until it’s on paper, I don’t think anyone is counting on anything. Trump is already cutting deals as he moves to solidify his position in the party.”
The pick would make perfect sense considering Giuliani’s support for Trump and his experience in directly dealing with terrorist threats.

“He’s my friend, and I think of the candidates, of the choices that I have, he’s the best choice for president,” Giuliani said prior to the primaries in New York.
The pair have been friends for over 20 years, so it stands to reason that Trump would have Giuliani in his cabinet, especially with his experience in dealing with the aftermath of 9/11. Plus, Trump appeared on Fox News last week and told the hosts he felt that Giuliani would be a “wise” choice to do the job.
Giuliani became well-loved across the country after 9/11, and Trump’s campaign would get quite the boost with him on board. His experience as a mayor would give him the tools he needs to manage the agency while his handling of New York City post-9/11 equipped him to deal with whatever threats to our homeland we may face.
In other words, he’d make a great secretary, who would take our security seriously while executing his duties faithfully.
If this is any insight into the type of people we can expect Trump to surround himself with, then we have an awesome administration to look forward to, should Trump get elected in November.
