The mayor of Baltimore channeled her inner Robert Isray, former owner of the Baltimore Colts, on Tuesday night.

Following the events that unfolded in Charlottesville, Virginia, Mayor Catherine Pugh ordered her minions to cruise around the city and collect the four Confederate monuments representing American history, and they did so under the cover of darkness. The Baltimore Sun reported that the operation started at close to midnight, and by 5:30 a.m. all of the triggering monuments had been removed, thus solving all of the problems in her city in just six hours.

Just kidding. Baltimore is still a violent sh-thole.

From the Sun:

Confederate statues in Baltimore were removed from their bases overnight, as crews using heavy machinery loaded them onto flat bed trucks and hauled them away, an end to more than a year of indecision surrounding what to do with the memorials.

The action comes after Mayor Catherine Pugh pledged to remove four statues linked to the Confederacy from public spaces in the city and the Baltimore City Council unanimously passed a resolution to tear them down after a national conversation was renewed following a deadly act of terror during a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday.

Mayor Catherine Pugh said Wednesday morning crews working for the city began removing the four Confederate monuments at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and finished at 5:30 a.m.

“It’s done,” she said Wednesday morning. “They needed to come down. My concern is for the safety and security of our people. We moved as quickly as we could.”

Pugh said she personally watched as monuments were taken down.

Pugh joins a growing chorus of leftists who believe that erasing history will somehow change it, inching us further down the slippery slope that can only end when everything representing anyone who owned slaves has been fully purged from the public’s view. Meanwhile, not one of these people has offered any sort of idea on how to better the lives of the minorities they claim to be helping through their destruction of white heritage.

George Orwell called. His only message was, “I told you so.”
