Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy appeared on Fox News last night to discuss a variety of topics, and when the subject of former FBI Director James Comey came up, he dropped quite the bomb about what happened during Hillary Clinton’s email investigation.
Gowdy appeared on “The Story” with Martha McCallum, and he revealed that the classified information from the investigation into Hillary’s email server contained evidence that would one day exonerate Comey for going on national television and blowing Hillary’s doors in. In fact, Gowdy all but flat out said that Hillary and Obama’s Department of Justice were colluding to ensure that she wasn’t charged.
From the Daily Caller:
On Fox News’ “The Story,” Gowdy cryptically told host Martha McCallum that he believes “history will be much kinder to Jim Comey in that July press conference than the Democrats were.”
“I think he had access to information that, because he is a stand-up guy he’s not gonna disseminate classified information (though God knows everybody else is)…so all your viewers see is this meeting on the tarmac,” he explained.
“Jim Comey had access to additional information that I am convinced left him with no other choice but to make the decision he made in July,” Gowdy said.
McCallum then pressed Gowdy on whether or not Comey was pressured into clearing Hillary of any wrongdoing over her server, and that’s when Gowdy told her that it was probably a good idea to “leave it right there” before he revealed classified information.
“Trust me when I tell you this, Martha — I know what it was and I have been a critic of James Comey in the past. But he made the only decision he could have made with respect to appropriating that decision away from the Department of Justice and making the decision himself.”
At that point, McCallum said the only take away from his comments is that Hillary enjoyed a relationship with the DOJ that was entirely too cozy given then circumstances.
“You’re very perceptive,” Gowdy confirmed.
Odds are, Gowdy was referring to an email the FBI found in which former Attorney General Loretta Lynch promised to shield Hillary from prosecution over her deliberate mishandling of classified information. Comey was asked about the email during a recent Senate hearing, and while he said he couldn’t confirm its existence, his answers alluded to the fact that it did exist, and the Justice Department was actively protecting the two-time failed presidential candidate.
Comey’s previous testimony is below:
Meanwhile Democrats are losing their minds over allegations from an anonymous source that the President may have asked Comey to take it easy on Gen. Flynn. The hypocrisy from these people is utterly astounding.
